UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon urged Russia and United States of America to pool together their resources and efforts to root out terrorism and especially in the recent fight against Daesh in Syria.
Ban urged the two’s support in a comprehensive plan aimed at fighting extremism and violence globally early next year and counted on the support of the two powerful nations in defeating the common enemy.
US president Barack Obama speaking at the Annual East Asia Summit in Malaysia said “a bunch of killers with good social media, Destroying (Islamic State) is not only a realistic goal, we’re going to get it done and will be thwarted by the US and its allies,” hinting at a likely joint operation that will deliver better results.
Ban called on global solidarity to address the common enemy; ISIL, Daesh, al Qaeda and all allied extremists and terrorist groups both in the Middle East and in Africa and posing threats to innocent civilians.
