
OSINT SUMMARY
24th November 2015, Somalia government forces and Allied African Union troops (AMISOM) repelled an Al Shabaab attack after heavily armed militants ambushed on their convoy near Wajid town south of Bakol region.
The confrontations broke out when the members of Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen movement made a surprise attack on the government forces together with African Union peacekeeping troops as they were on their regular patrols in the villages near Wajid town.
According to a military report, the militants were met with resistance, heavy gunfight erupted but the militants were overwhelmed and retreated.
Al Shabaab lost several fighters while many others fled with gun wounds. The government side also suffered though minor casualties from the clash.
The Al Qaeda affiliated branch in Somalia continues to pose threat to the horn of Africa nation and also to the East African nations despite losing large ground, towns and several strongholds.
The militant’s remnants still conduct surprise guerrilla kind of attacks on government and allied African Union soldiers in south and central regions of Somalia though the SNA and AMISOM continues to make significant gains against the dwindling insurgents.
