The United Kingdom is considering sending hundreds more British troops to Afghanistan.
The defense secretary has written to Theresa May recommending the UK boosts its military presence in the country. Currently, the UK has more than 600 troops in Kabul.
UK troops deployed would mainly help Afghan forces in training and not combat.
The decision to increase troops would send an important message to UK allies and the Taliban.
In a statement, the Ministry of Defense said the UK’s support to Afghanistan on security, development and governance was crucial in the building of a stable state and reducing the terrorist threat to the UK.
