
OSINT SUMMARY
17th December 2015, Turkish forces carried out military operations in Silopi and Cizre towns in Sirnak Province close to Syrian and Iraqi borders and killed some 23 Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) militants on Thursday.
According to local media, Anadolu news agency Ankara has been engaged in large-scale military offensives against PKK targets in the country’s southern border.
The Turkish military has also been conducting offensives against PKK positions in northern Iraq.
In the beginning of the week, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said anti-PKK campaigns would continue in Silopi and Cizre to bar militant insurgence spillover from Syria and Iraq into Turkey.
The Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) has been fighting for control of an autonomous Kurdish region inside Turkey since 1984.
