Somali troops (SNA) has recaptured Goofgaduud village which was briefly seized by Al-Shabaab on Sunday.
Corresponding reports from villagers indicate that armed Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a government military base in the area. The forces made a tactical retreat and counter attacked the terrorists.
According to Goofgaduud regional deputy police chief, Mohamed Isaq Ara’as, SNA forces are now in full control of the village having killed eight terrorists, several others fleeing with gun wounds.
Goofgaduud lies approximately 250 kilometers northwest of Somali’s Mogadishu, in an area where the Al-Shabaab militants and government soldiers have fought several times in the past.
