Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre paid a visit to inspect the newly integrated Ahlu Suna forces into the Somali National Army in Dhusamareb. The visit by the premier comes as the Federal Government of Somalia seeks to rebuild her armed forces in the Horn of Africa country.
Kheyre pledged the renovation of the 21st division Somali National Army base in Galmudug as well as the training and equipment of the brigade to spearhead liberation operation against the armed group al-Shabaab in the remaining areas under their control.
The integration of the armed forces in Somalia has been met by various obstacles among them the tensions between the state and federal governments which have stalled the progress. While Somalia has been struggling with al Shabaab, a new threat has been steadily emerging from the Somali province of Islamic State.
