Latest military intelligence reports from Somalia indicate that the Somali National Army (SNA) troops on Wednesday afternoon killed Al-Shabaab combatants including four commanders in a counter-terror operation in southern region of Somalia.
Speaking to reporters, SNA commander for Sector 43 Mohamed Bule confirmed that the government forces killed nearly a dozen Al-Qaeda linked combatants in a military operation conducted at Muse Haji and Arare locations a few kilometers from the administrative capital of Jubbaland State.
Those 11 killed Al-Shabaab combatants included four senior commanders who reportedly were planning an attack in the area. One of the killed commanders was a foreign fighter from Kenya.
Bule told reporters that the military operations that began on Tuesday are aimed at liberating more areas still under the terrorists’ control.
The Somali National Army troops backed by AMISOM forces have intensified their onslaught against the terrorists as part of efforts to pacify the Horn of Africa nation.
