Somalia ‘s Minister of Security Mohamed Abukar Islow has issued a statement warning of terror threats against a specified target in Mogadishu.
The security alert claims NISA has intelligence about the presence of an explosive laden vehicle (VBIED) in the vicinity of the capital Mogadishu that could be targeting the Aden Abdulle Airport Mogadishu in Somalia.
When speaking to the media after cabinet meeting on Thursday, Abdirahman Ifan Yonis – Deputy Minister for Information – warned the pubic of two vehicles loaded with explosives that security officials say is being planned to be used for an attack.
“The report submitted by security minister had shown that there were two VBIEDs sent to execute attacks in the city, one of the vehicles resembles those of Sahal Company which operates at the airport,” said Yonis.
Mr Yonis also said that increased security measures had been put in place in several parts of the town. “Intelligence reconnaissance operations will be increased. our forces will remain vigilant and we will take all necessary measures to foil the attacks,” Yonis pledged.
He also called onto the public to work with security officers by reporting any suspicious activity.
