According to media reports, security forces carried out raids of the homes of the suspects and arrested 20 people young men.
The raids came after two Al-Shabaab gunmen shot dead a local elder (Hilowle Hefow) in Wadajir district of Mogadishu.
The two were shot on the legs and were captured alive in order to be interrogated for more information. Also a pistol was recovered from them.
SNA in response to increased attacks conducted an overnight security operations in Mogadishu whereby over dozen linked with Al-Shabaab Islamist group were arrested.
The suspects who are currently held at Wadajir district police station will be brought before a court immediately when probes concludes according to security officials.
Somali security officers in Wadajir district said they had received intelligence information that Al-Shabaab has dispatched assassins in the area, instructed to carry out killings and ambushes.
In recent past months, Mogadishu has seen an increase of attacks, including targeted assassination, raids aimed at disrupting the elections.
