Somalia government forces backed by AMISOM troops launched massive mop-up operations in Baladweyne locality in Somalia.
The large-scale sweep in western and central town of Baladweyne (Beledweyne) come amid rising militancy threat, military officials have said.
According to Baladweyne Police Commissioner, Ali Dhuh Abdi, Somali National Army with support of AMISOM troops launched a dawn house to house search operation aimed at smoking out Al-Shabaab fighters who blend with locals.
The mop-up operation started on Saturday 28th February 2016 with security forces deployed around the main streets of the town.
The operation saw over two dozen of Al-Shabaab suspects being arrested. The suspects will undergo interrogation for more leads, a colonel with SNA was quoted saying.
