11th December 2015, another state officer has been killed by a car bomb explosion in Mogadishu barely a week after another state female journalist identified as Hindiya Haji Mohammed was killed in a similar attack where improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were fitted in her car.
A senior intelligence official was killed on Thursday in a car bomb. The bomb devices were attached to his car and were remotely detonated according to military and witnesses initial reports.
The intelligence officer identified as Abdullahi Mohamed Gardhub was critically injured in the IED explosion and later succumbed to the sustained wounds.
The explosion occurred near Waberi district police station on Thursday mid-day.
Mohamed Dahir Abdulle, a senior police detective confirmed the slain officer was an official of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
So far no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Al Shabaab militant group has been known for targeting the Government officials in car bombs attacks in Somali’s capital, Mogadishu.
