Police in southern region of Burundi captured 26 insurgents and seized weapons.
The arrests come at an expiry of an ultimatum set by President Pierre Nkurunziza to the insurgents to surrender to the security forces.
The 26 insurgents were arrested in four districts and six guns of the Kalashnikov type and one grenade were also seized.
Separately, four criminals surrendered to security forces and handed over one gun as reported in a press conference by Burundian Police Spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye.
Police are still hunting down other insurgents in six districts in the country still intimidating citizens in some localities.
