25th January, 2016, in an effort to secure Kenya, the Ministry of Interior as a WhatsApp messaging for both Principal Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for easier interaction with Kenyan citizenry.
The Interior Ministry has also provided public with two numbers which one will be able to report security or graft issues by Short Messaging Service (SMS) only.
Also provided were twitter handles, emails and Facebook accounts and picture portal for the two officials to be used for interaction.
The launch is aimed at enabling the public to easier reach the security officials. With millions of Kenya citizens on social media today it will be easier for them to contribute make inquiries on their roles and information on security towards securing the country.
A 2016 ‘World Leaders on Facebook study’ published by Burson-Marsteller found that governments were becoming savvier and more professional in the use of social media for interaction with their populous.
