Kenyans unity was again showed when a social media campaign to help the family of a Muslim teacher who died protecting Christians from an Al Shabaab attack.
The campaign gained a lot of traction with people branding him a “genuine hero” as a symbol of unity in the country that is facing challenges of terrorism.
The Muslim teacher identified as Salah Farah was shot after defying Al Shabaab terrorist order to separate from Christian passengers when they attacked a bus travelling from Mandera in December 2015.
Farah refused to be separated from Christians saying Muslims will die protecting their fellow Kenyans.
He succumbed to gun wounds at Kenyatta National Hospital leaving behind a wife and four children.
The social media campaign was started by Abdullahi Derow with hash tag #HeroSalah on Twitter.
