Kenyan government impounded three World Food Programme (WFP) trucks for allegedly carrying food supplies to Al-Shabaab militants.
Speaking in his office Tuesday 2nd February 2016, Mandera County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia confirmed that through collaboration with Intelligence Service the three trucks were intercepted destined for Dholo, Somalia.
According to Shisia it is suspected that the trucks were carrying food and other logistical equipment for the terrorist group in Somalia saying the WFP truck were stopped transiting the consignment until WFP comes clear on who is the sole beneficiary of the supplies before authorities can allow it get to Somalia.
The County Commander Mr. Shisia reiterated that the Kenyan government will not allow Al-Shabaab to replenish their logistics and then turn on Kenya with attacks threating its national security and people.
Mr. Shisia however lauded WFP doing a good job but the arrangements on the ground in relation with the consignment not clear and is suspected they (WFP) might be feeding the government’s enemy.
