The Islamic State Somalia (ISS) has confirmed that a senior foreign fighter on Pakistani descent was killed in joint operations conducted against the group by US and Puntland forces in July.
The terrorist who has been identified and eulogized by ISS media outlet as Khalid Jama alias Abu Osama Al-Muhajir was killed in Golis mountains following an operation by the US army and Puntland security forces, which lasted for several hours and left at least seven other militants dead.
Osama was killed following the operation on July 22, 2020, Puntland Security Forces confirmed the death of a senior foreign fighter but did not reveal details about the victim. The ISS outlet eulogized him as a committed member of the outfit who was highly ranked and was a key figure in the organization, especially in training recruits.
Osama was one of the active fighters of IS-Somalia and his death is believed to be a huge blow to the group. Some reports indicate that the group has serious fighters from both Yemen and Pakistan, who cross-over the border through the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
