A man hurled a grenade at people inside a food kiosk Wednesday evening injuring 2.
Garissa County Commissioner Rashid Khator confirmed that two people sustained slight injuries on the hands.
Suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists hurled explosives at people dining at the first food kiosk at Bula Adaan.
The two were slightly injured and rushed to Garissa Referral Hospital
A similar incident in Wajir at a bar left one person dead.
The attacks targeted eating and entertainment places. The people in those targeted areas are merely harmless, defenseless, and not even aware about the war on terrorism.
This makes the objective of terror attacks lack basis. At least the target must have significance that can immediately inspire recourse.
This is indicative of a failing strategy by Al-Shabaab terrorists who have lost nearly all sources of revenue in Somalia and are now desperate for survival.
Psychologically, Al-Shabaab is deeply wounded and worried of its significance in Somalia.
They are failing to achieve objectives and that is dangerous. It is inspiring desperation which is what we see in these senseless and random terror attacks.
When you kill targets whose value to the enemy troops is political-civil, the meaning of that attack lacks value and connotes a self-defeating strategy. It is simply an act of desperation.
On the other hand, the random attacks may weigh heavily on the political aspect of the enemy as psychological fear spreads among civilians who feel threatened by such acts.
What we have seen is a strategy that will not survive rather diminish by itself as military and intelligence officials defeat its main planners.
If successful hits on Al-Shabaab bases destroy and kill leadership and their troops, there is a likely hood the outcome will dent it’s cyber-terrorism angle besides their psychological war and force multiplier strategy.
What we need to see is a confused and rudderless militants coming out to surrender and denounce their illussion.
