The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Somalia representative Alessandra Moreli says Somali refugees will be repatriated back to Somalia.
About 100 families will be going back to Somalia, reports show. The report shows that these families will be taken to Kismayu, an area which is now enjoying relatively good socioeconomic.
Government of Kenya has agreed with UNHCR and Interim Jubba Administration (IJA) that the families start their repatriation on the December 8th, Interim Jubba Administration (IJA) Second Vice President Abdulkadir Haji Mohamud confirmed.
Kenya is spearheading the return of 500,000 refugees back to Somalia after signing an agreement with UNHCR in 2013.
Kenya is home to half a million Somali refugees some of who have now joined terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
These refugees pose a threat to Kenya’s national security since terror attacks are perpetrated in these refugee camps by people who disguise themselves as refugees, security agents in Kenya claim
