The European Commission on Wednesday December 16th, 2015 announced $327Million plan to address migration causes in Somali Peninsula.
The action plan will address the root cause of the irregular migration of people of the Horn of Africa countries to Europe and facilitate the repatriation back to their home countries.
The pillar-action pointers in the plan include creating employment opportunities and improve the living conditions in the Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and the stable areas of Somalia to facilitate the return. The plan is projected to include the creating favorable living conditions for South Sudanese refugees in their host countries or create conducive conditions in S. Sudan for their return.
The project not only aims at voluntary return and reintegration but also aims at investigating and prosecuting human trafficking and contraband smuggling.
The plan will take action in early 2016 and will be implemented by the European Commission, EU member states and the African countries.
