Uganda police have confirmed the arrest of 30 military offers for rebel and subversive activities against the government.
The Entebbe Garrison Army Commander, Col. Dan Opito Odwee is among the 30 arrested military officers over plotting a coup d’état in Uganda.
The arrest took place on Sunday 12th June 2016 whereby the officers allegedly had a plot to assassinate the country’s president Yoweri Museveni and take over the government through a coup.
Fred Enanga, a Ugandan police spokesman confirmed the arrests saying the assailants (plotters) are in police custody and are with the military. More arrest expected in the coming days, the spokesman added.

UPDF’s army Spokesman, Col. Paddy Ankunda also confirmed the arrests of 30 army officers saying they are part of plot to use unconstitutional means to change the leadership of Uganda.
Enanga also revealed that security forces following intelligence report are carrying out an operation to apprehend people plotting assassinations of key government officials.
Uganda opposition leader Kizza Besigye is already facing treason charges and is detained at Luzira maximum prison.
