African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops backed by Somali National Army (SNA) captured and liberated the town of Adan Yabaal in Middle Shabelle region from the control of Al-Shabaab militants.
The joint forces AMISOM and SNA confronted Al-Shabaab militants in Moqokori and Mahaas in Hiiraan region where they conducted a major offensive against the terror group before driving them out of Adan Yabaal.
The local residents who had fled the town on neighbouring districts for fear of collateral damage are slowly returning to their homes in Adan Yabaal after liberation from the control of the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
The residents are, however facing acute shortages of water and other basic supplies as the fleeing Al-Shabaab militants shelled the residential area where they vandalized amenities.
AMISOM and SNA will work together with Federal Government of Somalia to restore the vandalized amenities such as water as well as essential services in Adan Yabaal.
The joint forces are also conducting patrols and clearing the area of booby traps and IEDs planted by Al Shabaab.
