Kenyan police in Turkana County arrested a man believed to be linked to an Islamic terrorist group al Shabaab on Tuesday.
Evans Kipkosgei, Alias Osman, was arrested following a tip-off from the administration of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Lodwar.
Concerns that led to the arrest of Osman arose when the suspect inquired from a student in KMTC about the number of Muslim students in the institution.
The student is said to have reported the matter to the school principal who in turn reported the matter to Kenyan police leading to the man’s arrest.
Osman said in defense that he inquired about the number of Muslim students in the institution for the purpose of the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan.
Authorities said that they are still holding the suspect who is not a registered Kenyan, neither does have any documents to show his nationality.
Four Kenyan police officers have been deployed, to guard the institution.
KMTC in Lodwar is the a second place in Western province of Kenya to raise terrorist alarms, two weeks after another medical institution was closed in Western Kenya following terror threats.
