Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that, one terrorist fighter identified as Ibrahim Hassan Abdirahman surrendered to Jubaland Forces in Bardhere district, Gedo region of Somalia.
Abdirahman who defected from Al-Shabaab militant camp in Wadada Sakow locality, about 20km southeast of Bardera confessed that he was an Al-Shabaab operative who had taken military training. He also confessed to have participated in a number of attacks in Gedo region targeting government and AMISOM forces.
Abdirahman regretted his actions whilst at the terror camp saying his decision to denounce the Al-Qaeda linked group was as a result of Al-Shabaab attacking even innocent people, criminal acts he couldn’t tolerate.
He noted that that terror operatives in the rich agricultural Bardhere district carry out killings against poor pastoralists who refuse to give out some of their livestock to them.
Somali government has called on other terrorist fighters, be it Al-Shabaab or ISIS to denounce violence and surrender to authorities, saying Al-Shabaab especially is becoming a burden on Somali people.
