February 8, 2016: Turkish authorities on Sunday evening raided a basement that high-profile Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) terrorists were holed in the Kurdish town of Cizre.
At least 60 PKK fighters were killed in the raid after a fight erupted between the government troops and the fighters. The raid is one in a series of raids by the government forces to rid of the PKK fighters in Turkey.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said there were no civilian casualties as reported by some media outlets in the country citing the high professionalism, attention to detail and intelligence led raids that only target the PKK fighters.
The month long operation have resulted to the deaths of at least 700 PKK fighters with authorities calling that victory over the domestic terrorism that poses a huge threat to the Turkish people.
