A 50-member cell of armed Taliban militants reportedly gave up fighting and surrendered themselves up together with their weapons to the government in Dawlatabad district of the northern Faryab province on Wednesday.
According to Afghan army spokesman in the region, a total of 50 Taliban rebels handed over their weapons to security forces in Dawlatabad district on Wednesday evening.
The Taliban linked rebels vowed to join their communities and work for peace and stability of their country has not known peace for years.
This is the second group of anti-government militants surrendering to the government in Afghan northern region in the past few days.
Corresponding OSINT reports indicate that more than 100 militants deserted Taliban in the neighboring Jauzjan province and handed over their weapons to security forces on Tuesday.
Taliban militant group has not made any comment in relation to the massive exodus from the group.
