43 militants were killed by AMISOM troops in the Bakool region of Somalia as allied troops backed by Somali National Army push on with an operation to remove the militants from their last strongholds.
Intelligence reports shows Somali troops fighting alongside African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces attacked al-Shabaab bases in Bur Dhuhulle and Boogan villages in Bakol killing 43 militants.
An operation saw the deployment of a mechanized unit deep inside Bakol on Sunday to rout out the militants.
Al-Shabaab continues to operate in upper regions of central and northern Somalia.
