Kenya has made seven major oil
discoveries in just two years, Strategic Intelligence Energy Int report shows.
All seven discoveries have been made in Turkana County of the Republic of Kenya, East Africa’s largest economy and military power house.
Tullow Oil and its strategic partner Africa oil have already entered into a agreement to develop a heated pipeline with the government of Kenya.
The heated pipeline will keep the waxy crude oil flowing from Lokichar Basin to the coast of Kenya where the government has a refinery.
Kenya expects to start crude production before 2017, a move that could significantly bolster its economic growth.
Seven oil discoveries in Kenya are Ngamia-1 oil find, Amosing Oil Discovery, Ekales Oil discovery, Twiga Oil find, Agete 1 discovery, Etuko-1 oil discovery, and the Ewoi oil discovery.
All these Kenyan oil discoveries are on the Africa Oil owned Block 10BB in the Lokichar basin in Turkana County.
The Amosing 1 oil discovery is deemed the biggest in-terms of quantity than any other find in the basin
A production sharing concession is already in place and Tullow oil hopes to start production before 2017 which will be an election year.
