At least 20 suicide bombers belonging to the Pakistani Taliban have been killed in a US airstrike in the northern Afghan province of Kunar. Among those killed was the son of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah in a statement from the Taliban.
Two missiles are said to have hit the militants’ camp said to be housing a number of high-level members of the TTP including several commanders and intelligence officials of the terror organization.
The strike was guided by intelligence acquired that the compound was frequented by Mullah Fazlullah, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban believed to be hiding in Afghanistan.
The TTP and its affiliates continue to carry out sporadic large-scale attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians.
