At least 10 civilians were killed in Baghdad after a car rigged with explosives exploded near an outdoor market. The car was packed in the very busy commercial area.
The car which was a pickup was loaded with vegetables and fruits thus blending and failing to raise any alarms. The explosion occurred in the Shiite-dominated Amil Neighborhood and it wounded at least 25 civilians and damaged more than 20 vehicles.
This attack is preceded by the Iraqi forces, allied Shiite and Sunni fighters backed by the international US-led coalition operation against the Islamic state and the effort to recapture the major cities and towns in Iraq that had been captured by the IS.
Iraq is no stranger to almost daily similar attacks that are aimed at the Shiite who are the majority and against the security forces coming from the Islamic State.
Although no group immediately claimed responsibility this is in line with the Islamic State’s modi operandi (MO). The attack is viewed the kicks of a dying horse as they have been pushed out of their major stronghold, Tikrit.
