Military reports from Somalia indicate that more than 140 Al-Shabaab terrorists were last week killed by KDF soldiers in a botched attack in Somalia’s Afmadhow area in Lower Jubba.
In a gun battle that lasted for more than three hours, about 500 Al-Shabaab militants in 8 technicals (pickups) mounted with guns and four Lorries attempted to overrun Jubbaland Forces situated in Afmadhow town.
Reports indicate that the terrorists firstly attempted to attack a police station but were successfully repulsed by SNA and Jubbaland forces before KDF Special Forces arrived and destroyed two of the technical mounted with guns and killing many terrorists.
The highly trained small unit of KDF Special Forces surrounded the attackers and used portable 60mm mortars and machine guns to destroy them. Al-Shabaab terrorists overpowered were forced to withdraw, retreated towards Miido town with KDF and SNA in hot pursuit.
Initial military BDA traced 140 terrorists’ bodies but there indications that other Al-Shabaab dead bodies were dragged away the militants.
The battle comes barely week after the Somalia National Army’s US-trained commandos raided al Shabaab’s Anole village base in Lower Jubba and killed an unknown number of fighters.
Separately KDF-Airforce conducted air raids on Friday and bombarded Al-Shabaab bases in Ali Hared after they attempted to attack SNA bases about 20km from Juungal.
