The US forces conducted an airstrike against al Shabaab combatants on during the weekend outside Mogadishu killing at least 13 militants. According to reports, a drone missile hit militants in Basra village in the Lower Shabelle region, about 30 kilometers north of Mogadishu.
U.S. Africa Command has confirmed the airstrike, which came less than 24 hours after a strike targeted the group in Bay region, killing 81 militants. The coordinated attacks in a collaboration between the SNA and the US are meant to pave the way for a large-scale offensive against the al Shabaab in its preparation stages. The onslaught against the militants is in response to the Mogadishu that killed over 350 people.
