United Nations is expected to spend more than Sh3.8 billion in training Kenyan soldiers.
The supported training is being conduct by military personnel drawn from the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force.
The training is aimed to strengthen engineering units of the Kenya Army in preparation for deployment to tough terrain in war-torn regions.
Kenya Defence Forces contingent within battling Al-Shabaab within AMISOM was the only unit chosen to undergo the advanced training.
The military training has already kick-started at the Humanitarian Peace Support School, Embakasi Garrison. 60 Kenyan soldiers are already being trained in the advanced training dubbed ‘Triangular Partnership Project’.
The Japanese Government has funded the UN-backed project.
The training expected to arm the Kenya soldiers with skills, tactics before proceeding to the peacekeeping mission in the war-torn horn of Africa nation.
