Uganda President Yoweri Museveni held talks with UN envoy to Great Lakes Region on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
Said Djinit, the United Nationals Secretary General’s Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region met the President at State House, Entebbe where they discussed matters of mutual interest between Uganda and the United Nations.
Statement released to the newsrooms from the Presidential Press Unit indicate that the meeting was attended among other by, Maman Sambo Sdikou, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for the Peace Keeping Mission in Congo (MONUSCO) in Congo.
The two leaders discussed issues concerning peace and security in the Great Lakes Region.
Mr. Djinnit who coordinates the international engagement in the Great Lakes Region and who also closely coordinates with UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) as well as regional organizations such as the African Union and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region briefed the President on the situation in the region.
