Uganda Police Kill Suspected Post-election Violence Mastermind in Bundibugyo

home002pixUganda police  killed a suspected post-election mastermind in Bundibugyo district.

The slain main identified as Amanya Bukapa Muhindo was believed to be behind training and performing rituals on youths that engaged authorities in recent post-election tribal related violence.

According to Uganda police reports, at least 40 people were killed property destroyed and residents displaced following the tribal violence witnessed in Rwenzori-sub region between February and March.

Confirming the termination of the suspected mastermind, the district police commander, Mr Martin Tukahebwa, said Amanya Bukapa Muhindo was shot dead by police saying he was the force’s wanted list of criminals.

Tukahebwa added that the slain was the ringleader of the youth gang called “Bakirumira-Mutima” that heavily fueled and participated in the recent post-election violence in Bundibugyo.

The district police boss further noted that they have been following intelligence information to know his whereabouts, until on Tuesday when they terminated him while conducting an illegal meeting at his home with a group of about seven youth.
