Uganda expected to receive more sophisticated weaponry and training to aid in the fight against ISIS that is encroaching into Somalia from the US Africa Command.
Uganda is the largest troop contributor to the al Shabaab fight in Somalia under the AMISOM troops.
Summary:
US Africa Command late in 2015 revealed a 5-year blue print through which African troops fighting in Somalia against the al Shabaab would get specialized training. The training is set to equip the troops with the necessary skills to adapt to the changing terrorist and militants combat tactile.
Uganda, which is the largest troop contributor to AMISOM, is expected to receive sophisticated weaponry and training to fight the deadly Islamic State and al Shabaab movements in Somalia and subsequently in the entire EA region.
The 5-year plan include; neutralizing the terror group al Shabaab in Somalia, dismantling any active or camouflaged cells in the neighboring countries especially Kenya and Uganda.
An elite troop of UPDF Special Forces Command have already completed an arduous one- year training program by the Us Navy Seal in the pilot project to equip the troops with skills that graduated earlier in the week.
ISIS splinter in Somalia is still to be accepted by the core-ISIL as a caliphate member as such proving their lack of numbers and capability indicating a high chance that the splinter can be defeated sooner rather than later before it gains ground.
The training offered by the Africa Command will without a doubt elevate the Ugandan Forces to a high level with better operation capabilities in the fight against al Shabaab and ISIL in East Africa.
