U.S. in a statement issued from the Central command on Tuesday 6th September 2016 confirmed that three airstrikes which happened in Yemen's central Shabwah province between August 24 and September 4 left 13 Al Qaeda terrorists killed.
The statement further noted that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula remains a significant threat in the region and also for the U.S.
U.S. in the recent past months has targeted Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) with drones with more than 100 successful strikes being reported in the last seven years.
Several top Al Qaeda commanders have been killed in these aerial campaigns with minimal civilian deaths also reported which at times is unavoidable consequence.
