3rd December 2015, The drone strike targeted an Al Shabaab base in Kunyo-Barow village in Lower Shabelle region on a Wednesday afternoon.
Residents of Kunyo-Barow village reported heavy explosions near the Al Shabaab training camp. Al Shabaab believed to have suffered huge casualties as the base was completely rundown.
U.S. has been conducting aerial campaigns against Al Shabaab targets in Somalia especially in Southern Somalia.
In the past U.S. drone raids have killed top Al Shabaab figures including the militant’s leader Ahmed Godane who was killed near Barawe town in Lower Shabelle region on 1st September, 2014.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has also conducted successful aerial raids against Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen (HSM) movement.
