Somalia National Army backed by AMISOM forces on Wednesday arrested a senior Al Shabaab commander in a security operation in Bula-Burte, Hiiraan region of central Somalia on Wednesday 2nd December.
Moalim Hundrow, a senior and very influential al Shabaab commander in Bula-Burte region was the sole target of the operation following intelligence obtained in the area. He has been leading the militants in forcefully collection Zakah and other unlawful levies from farmers and herdsmen in the area.
There were no causalities as the dedicated operation was based on an exact location based on credible intelligence. Bula-Burte area was recaptured by AMISOM troops last year and has been under them since shunning away militants from the area.
Intelligence sharing and co-operation between the SNA and their allied troops have intensified in the past months with most contributing countries carrying out routine rotations to replenish and relieve their fellow servicemen.
