At least twelve (12) Al-Shabaab militants were killed in U.S. latest air raid that took place outside Somali capital, Mogadishu, U.S. forces have confirmed.
U.S. in collaboration with Somali government forces has carried out 14 successful air raids against Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia since January.
According to a statement by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), 12 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in an airstrike in Southwest of Mogadishu.
“U.S. forces conducted an airstrike targeting Al-Shabab militants approximately 30 miles of southwest of Mogadishu, killing 12 terrorists,” the statement read in part.
The Mission affirmed that there were no civilian casualties during the air raid.
Somali commandos often carry out operations side-by-side with the American forces that train them. Air assaults and missile strikes have increased in recent months.
