Two teachers were Wednesday morning killed in a suspected Al-Shabaab attack at Arabia Boys High School in Mandera East.
Initial police report indicates that the suspected terror operatives hurled an explosive device at a teacher’s house, killing the two non-local teachers.
The police reservists guarding the school bravely engaged the attackers who then fled as more security reinforcements were mobilised.
Police statement confirmed of teachers and students roll indicating that they were safe and clarifying that no other part of the school was affected.
The Somali-based Al-Shabaab has in the past targeted non-local teachers in Mandera County of Kenya.
Security forces have since been deployed to hunt down the attackers. Locals urged to volunteer any actionable information to the security authorities.
