Twitter CEO has revealed that Twitter has suspended over 1.2 million accounts that were promoting terrorism in the past two years. In the last six months of 2017, over 274,000 accounts were suspended in a move to curb terrorism propagated on the social network.
Twitter says that’s because it’s getting better at dissuading people from creating them, to begin with. And although Twitter was quick to celebrate its terrorist-related suspensions, the sheer number of removals in the last quarter, alone, suggests the service is still a sought-after spot for terrorists to land.
Terrorist organizations have long used social media and other popular services to spread propaganda and recruit new members into their organizations.
Social media is the largest platform used by Terror organization to advance their agenda, spread propaganda, instill fear as well as recruit members from different parts of the world.
