Turkish war jet on Feb 25. bombarded PKK shelters in northern Iraq as part of the ongoing operation targeting the terrorist group
According to the Turkish General Staff, the fighter jets destroyed shelters and gun emplacements in the Zap region on Saturday, which were being used by terrorists.
Turkish military sources indicate that the terror cell was preparing to attack military posts and bases.
The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
PKK has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children. Over 8,000 PKK fighters have also been killed in Turkish military operations.
