At least 1,528 PYD/PKK and ISIL terrorists have been “neutralized” since the beginning of Operation Olive Branch in Syria’s northwestern region of Afrin, according to the Turkish military.
The Turkish military has maintained that the neutralized terrorists were part of a series of overnight airstrikes and ground assaults with the core aim of establishing security and stabilizing Turkey’s borders.
The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey’s rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN charter, and respect for Syria’s territorial integrity, it said.
The military also said only terror targets were being destroyed and the “utmost care and sensitivity” were being used not to harm civilians.
