Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that, one terrorist fighter identified as Shuris Adam Dhinbil surrendered to the Somali government forces in Beled Hawo town.
Dhinbil who defected from Al-Shabaab militant camp in Kabis, 20km west of Garbaharey confessed that he was an Al-Shabaab operative who had taken military training in Kabis. He also confessed to have participated in a number of attacks in Beled Hawo targeting government and AMISOM forces.
Dhinbil regretted his actions whilst at the terror camp saying his decision to denounce the Al-Qaeda linked group was as a result of Al-Shabaab attacking even innocent people, criminal acts he couldn’t tolerate.
“They ordinarily carry out killings against poor pastoralists who refuse to give out some of their livestock to them,” Dhinbil was quoted saying.
Somali government forces have called on other terrorist fighters, be it Al-Shabaab or ISIS to denounce violence and surrender to authorities, saying Al-Shabaab especially is becoming a burden on Somali people.
