Turkish air strikes have reportedly hit terrorist PKK targets in northern Iraq, Turkey’s Defense Ministry said. Turkish jets attacked and destroyed PKK weapon emplacements, shelters, and ammunition depots in the regions of Qandil, Avasin-Basyan, Metina, Sinat-Haftanin, and Zap.
Airstrikes carried out in the aforementioned regions neutralized militants plotting attacks on Turkish bases as well as other civilian targets. Turkish jets also destroyed shelters and depots of the militants during the operation.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU. PKK in its over 30 years of war against Turkey, has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including many women and children.
