A Turkish engineer who was inspecting the construction of the road along Mogadishu-Afgooye survived a bomb attack on Wednesday afternoon after the vehicle he was travelling in hit a landmine, Somali local news reports.
Corresponding open sources reports indicate that the 4×4 vehicle that was carrying the official from a Turkish construction company hit a landmine around Geresbaley area in the outskirts of Mogadishu.
The Turkish official was rushed to Digfeer hospital for emergency medical treatment. It was not immediately clear if there were other occupants in the vehicle.
Lately, the Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab has claimed a number of targeted assassination on key government officials including foreigners supporting the weak Federal Government of Somalia.
