Ankara and Washington have reportedly reached an agreement that allows the United State to use some Turkey’s bases to launch attacks on the ISIL Takfiri militants in Syria.
This decision is said to have been after a delegation from the US comprising of US General John Allen, Undersecretary of Defence for Policy Christine Wormuth held three-day talks to discuss the matter here-in.
The US requires using the Incirlik airbase to launch air strikes and Diyarbakir and Batman military bases for logistical purposes.
Turkey however gave the United States a precondition that the US support the foreign-backed militants that are fighting against the current Syrian government and President Bashar al-Assad. Ankara expects that the US train and equip the fight against the Syrian government.
The details of the deal reached upon have been surrounded by a lot of rumors some saying that the deal to use armed drones was not discussed seeing as they have been operational since March, 2015.
Turkey has been viewed as Takfiri tolerant as they are in the forefront in supporting the militancy against the Syrian government. Reports show that Ankara trains and arms the militants operating in Syria and has created a porous border that allows foreign terrorists to cross into Syria.
