Tunisian Ministry of Defence confirmed that the country’s armed forces killed two terror operatives on Wednesday in the northwest of country.
According to a statement issued by the defence ministry on Thursday, military units reinforced by the elements of the National Guard killed two terrorists during search operations conducted near the town of Jendouba.
The operation also saw two rifles seized, along with ammunition, backpacks, clothes, mobile phones and cash. Also one soldier was wounded in the operation.
Tunisia has been in a state of emergency since November 24, 2015, when a suicide bombing claimed by the Islamic State militant’s left 12 Presidential guards in central Tunis killed.
Tunisia security forces frequently clash with extremist groups in the mountainous west of the country.
The ministry statement concluded that the army and the National Guard would continue to search for militants in the region and terminate their operations.
