Intelligence gathered by Strategic Intelligence reports that gunmen and terror cells are living among their tribesmen along the Kenya Somali border making it difficult for military operations to succeed in destroying militant camps.
According to a leaked intelligence report, Mandera and Lamu terror attacks were facilitated by elements living with friends on these areas.
For-Example, the locals in Lamu mainly ethnic Kikuyus and Muslims have elements who now support Al-Shabaab, the terror cells lives with their friends who are well known in these societies.
In Mandera, the quarry workers knew their attackers very well. Survivors even knew them. The victims even argued and tried to fight with them before they were killed.
Strategic Intelligence Service confirms that indeed ethnic Somali tribesmen herders are hiding their kin and kith who are elements of the militant groups.
Instead of establishing real bases, the terrorists are collaborating with their tribesmen to build Manyatta’s where both the terrorists and their tribesmen hide to avoid military operations by Kenyan authorities.
The objective is to discredit Kenya Military Operations by citing attacks on herders and their animals as an attack on innocent Muslims.
This collaboration between local people of Somali origin and those who subscribe to radical Islam besides the Somali people inside Somalia near the Kenyan border is a stumbling block to the war on terror.
These acts are hostile acts and military operations will not spare the livestock or those helping these militants, security experts warn
