A top-ranking ISIS commander who was in charge of recruiting terror operatives for the group was arrested during an operation carried out in capital Kabul.
According to the Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), the senior ISIS recruiter was arrested by the Special Forces of the intelligence directorate.
A statement by NDS confirmed that their security officers detained an individual identified as Abdul Maheen saying he was arrested from the 11th Police District of the city.
The statement further added that the deputy of Maheen identified as Saifullah was also arrested during the same operation.
According to NDS, the detained individuals have confessed to their crime and involvement in recruitment of militants for the terror group in Kabul.
The detained terror operatives are currently in custody of the NDS for further debrief, NDS said, adding that the duo was held based on a tip off that they were attempting to transfer their families of ISIS from Nangarhar to Jawzjan province.
